THE NEW REPUBLICAN NEWSLETTER No. 64 (August 24, 2008) ------------------------------------------------------------ OBAMA AND BIDEN - AND MICHELLE I have spoken to a number of my Republican friends who were ecstatic with the selection of Joe Biden for the Democrat VP choice. And I have actually had a few phone calls from liberal friends who were so pissed off at Obama that one girl was actually crying - and blaming me for Obama being forced to pick Biden, because the Republicans hated Clinton so much that Obama had no other choice but to not pick Hillary. That statement had me going in circles for about an hour. But the real fact of the matter is, Obama has a real fight on his hands now. I won't go into all the details and drawbacks with Joe Biden. Actually, I like him - but he is not the change that Obama promised. The point is, and I think this is very clear — Obama is no longer the master of his own campaign. In 1960, John F. Kennedy swallowed his pride and chose his hated rival, Senator Lyndon Johnson, and with the help of Richard J. Daley, won the 1960 presidential election. The first Catholic president in American history with a Southerner as his vice-presidential running mate. The Democrats won because Kennedy and Johnson both put their differences aside and ran together for the good of their party, and that of the country. If Obama was the deciding factor in leaving out Hillary Clinton then he is nothing short of being politically naive. If he would have laid aside his differences, and chosen Hillary Clinton, it would have been a masterstroke of political genius - and we all would be staring 8 years of Obama/Clinton in the face. That duo would have been immensely difficult to defeat. But that did not happen. The question remains - why? ------------------------------------------------------------ SO WHO IS REALLY MAKING THE DECISIONS FOR OBAMA? For those of you less fortunate ones who have never had Americans of African ancestry as friends, you will probably not be able to understand what I am going to say. And then, there will be those who claim I am a racist for what I am going to put forth. But I have never backed off from telling the truth - and I don't intend to start now. When Obama was asked at the recent one-on-one question/answer session as to who were the three greatest influences on his life he immediately said his wife, Michelle. Taken on the surface, that would appear to be a fairly innocuous statement. But in the black families I have been associated with in my life - the women wear the pants - not the men. And when I say wear them I mean wear them. What Mama says - goes. Period. I found it extremely interesting that when Michelle Obama was starting to talk too much out on the campaign trail - she was immediately hushed up and pulled off the stump. Obama's handlers knew that she would blow things wide open if allowed to continue. Michelle Obamas's comments about America are well known. What is not so well known is what she really thinks. People are clamoring about Hillary Clinton not being properly "vetted." Personally, I think that is a red herring. Michelle Obama should be the one to be vetted. I would bet my last dollar that Barack Obama's wife was the one who put her foot down when it came to allowing the party to pick Hillary Clinton as her husband's running mate. She simply hates Hillary and couldn't stand the thought of having to actually live with her for the next 4 years. If I am wrong on this, and I could very well be, then please explain to me how Obama blew the chance of picking Hillary as his running mate, garnering the 18 million votes that she had to offer, being the first woman vice-president in the history of the nation along with the first American of African ancestry as president - and winning the election to boot. Now that would have been CHANGE! If Obama loses, and I am still predicting that he will, there will be a lot of talk about the fact that he chose Biden instead of Hillary Clinton. And if Obama loses - guess who will be the Democrat standard bearer in 2012. ------------------------------------------------------------ THE DEMOCRAT CONVENTION I hate to predict this but I simply have to say what I think is going to happen. In a previous newsletter I predicted that one, or both, of the conventions might be either split or decided on the convention floor. It looks like this will probably not happen. What I think is now going to take place is that we will see protests, both inside and outside the convention hall, in Denver. But the real fireworks are going to happen when the roll call begins. And I am predicting that there will be either chaos right on the floor or that a certain amount of the convention delegates will simply walk out of the convention - as the Dixiecrats did in 1948. I know this is a very harsh prediction but I have had nothing but complaints from liberal friends who feel they have been "betrayed" and "used" and "ripped-off" by the Obama people. There is a lot of hate out there and I don't think the Democrat convention is going to pull them all together. If anything, it will pull them further apart. ------------------------------------------------------------ THE CHINA SYNDROME On a different note, now that the China Olympics are over (yes, I intentionally said China, not the Beijing Olympics, because that is what it was) I have just a few comments to follow up on the China presentation aired by Bill Moyers a few nights ago. For those of you who missed it, try to see if you can pick it up on-line. It is worth seeing. The Olympics were a mighty force put on by China to a gullible and ignorant outside world. The beautiful sights - in and around Beijing - were all that was shown. Bear in mind, the communist government has been in power since October 1, 1949, and there are still 1,000,000,000 (that's billion) people living at or below the poverty line. The well-dressed Chinese citizens shown on TV were, for the most part, upper middle class "rich" Chinese - 300,000,000 of them. That is the total population of the United States. The cultural penchant for obfuscating the truth with finely tuned, well-orchestrated misrepresentations was finally put on display for the whole world to see. But I doubt if many really understood what was happening. China pulled out every stop to present itself as a generous, loving and fair nation. Nothing could be further from the truth. I urge all readers to pick up a copy of, CHINA HOUSE, if you haven't already done so. It is an eye-opener that will leave you shaking your head in disbelief. Only one problem. It is fully sourced and well-documented. In other words, it is the truth. Another prediction. The investigations into alleged "age" discrepancies will disappear into the sunset. The allegations of fraud and corruption will quietly come to a halt. Nothing will be done. Why? Because there is simply too much money to be made by just pretending not to see what is really going on in the "New" People's Republic of China. Not only is the UN under suspicion when it comes to China, but the IMF, and the IOC are too. The payoff is too big - and everybody wants their "fair" share. ------------------------------------------------------------ WHERE IS THE USA ON ALL THIS? Apparently, nowhere to be seen. There has not been one representative to rile continuously on the floor of the United States Congress in favor of the average, everyday, hard-working Chinese citizen. Where is the outrage? Where is the dignity that America once stood for? Where is the compassion? Where is America? As one of my more eloquent readers noted recently in an e-mail she sent me regarding our American "male representatives" she stated that they should "grow a set" and stand up to China, instead of letting them run roughshod over their own people. I could not have said it better myself. In conclusion, I have one simple question to leave you with. Who would you rather have facing down Putin and Hu: Barack Obama or John McCain? Take care and have a good upcoming week. Larry Klepinger Still, a New Republican Your ideas and comments are more than welcome.
